What We do ?
"Calls for Heroes" provides UK armed
forces with prepaid secure satellite phone cards to increase call time to speak
to family and friends back home
How we do it ?
The project is run with the co-operation of the Ministry of Defence and Secure
Satellite communications provider Paradigm
The project was initiated
following a talk given at the club by Group Captain Phil Cox from RAF Boulmer in
Northumberland in November 2009
His experiences in Afghanistan and stories of the impact that
extended tours of duty abroad have on military personnel and their families
generated a desire in those present to do something to show support for the
troops overseas.
Detailed research highlighted the high
priority and inadequecy of telephone call time allocated to troops in front line
positions overseas
